Gary S. Watts is a Partner in the Firm’s Advisory Services Group. An experienced certified public accountant (CPA) and attorney, Mr. Watts’ background includes nearly 30 years of experience with financial due diligence, work outs, litigation support and forensic accounting. Although he has a diverse industry background, his specialty is in real estate.
Furthermore, Mr. Watts has significant expertise identifying and investigating a wide range of major fraud cases involving key government officials and major U.S. financial institutions.
Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Watts served as a consultant for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). He assisted counsel with investigating potential Director’s and Officer’s Liability claims and verification and validation duties, and worked with the agency on distressed assets. He was also a Senior Managing Director and opened the West Coast office for a substantial East Coast based litigation support and bankruptcy workout consulting firm.
Mr. Watts has also worked for the Director of Investigations at the Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC), where he was integrally involved in several high profile investigations.
In addition to his work with the Federal Government, Mr. Watts has experience performing due diligence services for a National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) broker dealer, and served as Director of Acquisitions for several real estate public limited partnerships. As a CPA, he provided sophisticated tax and strategic planning services to large real estate companies and wealthy individuals.
Mr. Watts has acted as a receiver, negotiated settlements and provided expert testimony in matters regarding fraud, asset misappropriation, valuation, calculation of damages and other business matters.
