Hartford, CT – The Connecticut Technology Council (CTC) and Marcum LLP today announced the Marcum Tech Top 40 list of the fastest growing technology companies in Connecticut. Winning companies will be honored at an awards ceremony at the Oakdale Theater in Wallingford on October 2.

The Marcum Tech Top 40, now in its 7th year, recognizes technology leaders in six industry sectors, including Advanced Manufacturing, Energy/Environmental, Life Sciences, New Media/Internet/Telecom, IT Services, and Software. The winning companies are privately and publicly held, with at least $3 million in annual revenue and a demonstrated record of growth in each of the preceding four years. Four 2014 finalists have over $1 billion in revenue.

This year’s winners range from newcomer VRSim, Inc., a creator of virtual reality training tools for industrial and manufacturing applications, to Priceline.com, a leader in mobile travel. 2014 winners are primarily privately held companies, but 12 public companies also made the list, including Rogers Corporation, Gartner Inc. and Alexion Pharmaceuticals. Geographically, Fairfield County is home to 16 winning companies this year, followed by Hartford County and New Haven County, both with ten companies.

“The annual Marcum Tech Top 40 gives us the opportunity not only to see innovation first-hand but also to recognize how Connecticut’s fastest growing technology companies are overcoming complex challenges to achieve success,” said Anthony P. Scillia, Partner-in-Charge, Marcum New England. “Marcum is extremely proud to partner with the Connecticut Technology Council on this outstanding program again this year and enthusiastically congratulates all the winners.”

Bruce Carlson, CTC’s President & CEO added, “Connecticut is proud of its remarkable heritage of innovation and invention. Job growth in Connecticut is going to come from the technology sector and these Tech Top 40 companies are a great example of the range of technology companies that are growing substantially in Connecticut.”

This year’s event sponsors include: title sponsor Marcum LLP, Capital One Bank, Connecticare, Comcast Business, Diversified Project Management, the law firm of Pullman & Comley, Robert Half Technology, TriNet, UK Trade & Investment, Webster Bank, Xand Corporation, and Wellstone Insurance.
